Alpherzweg

This coming Saturday, June 22, 2024, the Alpherzweg trail in Malbun will be officially opened. Seven stations will be set up along the existing Panoramaweg trail, offering hikers insights into alpine culture, nature, and the environment in Liechtenstein’s mountainous region. As part of the opening celebrations, Liechtenstein Marketing invites the entire public to come to Malbun starting at 10:00 a.m. to experience the new Alpherzweg and the summer activities firsthand.

June 19, 2024 – The Alpherzweg is the new themed trail in Malbun, which Liechtenstein Marketing will open this coming Saturday in collaboration with representatives from the mountain region. In addition to existing themed trails such as the Swing Trail, the Detective Trail, and the Explorer Trail, the new Alpherzweg offers a deeper insight into nature and alpine culture. The Alpherzweg follows a narrative as guests explore the alpine meadows around Malbun. Along the way, they encounter various objects and animals that help them learn about and experience life on the alp. For example, the trail explains the functions of trees and stones. Insights into the history of Malbun are also provided, and the trail explores the use of alpine farming and recreational tourism, as well as how these two sectors coexist.

The stations are suitable for both children and adults. In addition, visitors can collect a stamp at each location to complete the activity booklet. The booklet is shaped like an “Alpherz” and is available at the Malbun Center. This stamp-collecting game makes the themed trail interactive and entertaining for children and families. Furthermore, these unique Alpherzes—found only in Liechtenstein—convey the distinctive features of Liechtenstein’s alpine culture. The highlight is the final station, where you’ll encounter an Alpherz over two meters tall.

A path for and with nature

“When designing the stations, we made sure to be as sustainable as possible and to interfere with nature as little as possible,” explains Urs Conrad, mountain region product developer at Liechtenstein Marketing. “We used exclusively regional wood, which the Rohrer woodworking shop in Triesenberg used to produce the seven information kiosks.” The Alpherzweg will be on display along the Panoramaweg during the summer months through October. The plan is to expand it next year by adding three more stations, bringing the total to 10.

Opening ceremony with a preview of the summer week program starting at 10:00 a.m.

In addition to the new trail, visitors can also take advantage of the activities offered by the summer weekly program. The summer weekly program includes numerous activities such as a first-aid course in the mountains, cooking over an open fire, pony rides, and nature exploration. “We’re naturally delighted if many locals explore the new Alpherzweg and the various summer activities,” said Conrad. The summer week program runs from July 1, 2024, to August 11, 2024, and is free of charge.
