Digital Guest Card

Since June 1, 2025, all overnight guests have been receiving a guest card called the “WELCOME Experience Pass.” This card allows guests to enjoy numerous discounts and use public transportation for free. For tourism in Liechtenstein, this marks an important milestone in the development of a modern, sustainable, and service-oriented guest experience.

June 2, 2025 – In collaboration with the tourism industry, Liechtenstein Marketing has developed the “WELCOME Experience Pass.” This digital guest card is exclusively for overnight guests; it is valid for stays of one night or more and remains valid from the day of arrival through the day of departure. It offers guests discounted access to attractive offers and free use of public transportation across the entire LIEmobil network. At the same time, hotels and service providers such as museums and recreational facilities benefit from increased visibility and appeal. “With the digital guest card, we are setting another milestone for a modern and sustainable tourism destination,” says Mathias Ulrich, Managing Director of Liechtenstein Marketing. “We are thereby creating real added value for guests, service providers, and the entire tourism sector in the country.”

An app for a comprehensive guest experience

The “WELCOME Experience Pass” guest card is tailored to the needs of modern travelers: easy to use, paperless, and offering direct access to experiences. Guests receive the guest card automatically via email before their arrival. It is available as a PDF and for mobile devices in the mobile wallet or in the new “WELCOME App.” “The new app serves as a digital travel companion,” explains Ulrich. In the web-based app, guests can find their personalized “WELCOME Experience Pass” as well as information about the weather, events, and excursion tips in Liechtenstein. “Thanks to the open-data foundation of the new tourism website, guests always find up-to-date content in the ‘WELCOME App,’ as it is directly connected to the product management system.”

Promoting sustainable mobility

Sustainable travel is no longer just a trend—it’s an expectation for many guests. “The successful 2023–2024 pilot phase with the free mobility card showed us that guests really appreciate this kind of offering, especially since they’re already familiar with it from other destinations. We’re delighted to be able to play a significant role in this,” says Sigvard Wohlwend, Head of Marketing and Communications at LIEmobil.

A key competitive advantage for hotels and greater visibility for service providers

The hotel industry welcomes the new guest card as a key competitive advantage. This is confirmed by the participating establishments from the pilot phase. Hubertus Real of the Parkhotel Sonnenhof says: “The guest card helps us attract guests to stay overnight in Liechtenstein and encourages them to extend their stay so they can discover the country’s diverse offerings.” Museums, cultural institutions, and leisure facilities also see benefits, as the card increases their visibility, which in turn leads to more visitors. “The new guest card makes a stay in Liechtenstein even more diverse and offers the opportunity to get to know the country and its culture better. It’s an offer for everyone who is eager to discover great stories in a small country,” says Andrea Kauer Loens, Director of the Liechtenstein National Museum.

Ready for the future of tourism

With the “WELCOME Experience Pass,” digital innovations, and a focus on sustainable travel, Liechtenstein is establishing itself as a modern, high-quality destination in the heart of Europe. The goal is to encourage longer stays, conserve resources, and allow visitors to experience the authentic Liechtenstein.
