January 15, 2025 – The founders of 32PEAKS GmbH—Franco Bargetze, Christian Bredemeier, and Daniel Knapp—met while studying at the University of Liechtenstein. During a study trip to San Francisco, they came up with a unique idea: to create a gin that captures the essence of Liechtenstein.

A Calling and a Passion Combined

Although all three founders work full-time in different fields—Daniel Knapp as a program manager and doctoral candidate at the University of Liechtenstein, Christian Bredemeier as Chief Executive Officer at Jedsy in Liechtenstein, and Franco Bargetze as co-founder and COO of REPLOID Schweiz AG—they are enthusiastically dedicated to their shared passion project: 32PEAKS Gin.

A gin that tastes like Liechtenstein

Daniel Knapp tells us: “Our vision behind 32PEAKS was clear: What does Liechtenstein taste like? What scents, flavors, and emotions reflect our country? We wanted to capture the essence of Liechtenstein in a bottle. We found inspiration in the beautiful natural surroundings: the fresh scent of mountain meadows, the earthy aroma of the forest, and the cool, clear air that greets you as you ascend to higher elevations. The view from the peaks down into the Rhine Valley, the play of colors, and the tranquility of the landscape—we wanted to capture all of that in our gin and bring it to life. These considerations ultimately led to the development of an exceptional gin made with regional ingredients. 32PEAKS Gin contains 11 herbs—so-called botanicals—that grow in Liechtenstein. This number symbolizes the country’s 11 municipalities. Unlike many other gins, 32PEAKS contains no lemon, as this fruit does not grow in Liechtenstein. Instead, the gin captures the freshness and earthiness of the region by using botanicals such as lemon verbena, lemon thyme, and lemon balm—aromas that one also perceives when hiking through the mountains of Liechtenstein and breathing in the scent of nature.

The Bottle: A Work of Art with a History

The bottle design also tells a story: it features faithful reproductions of all 32 of Liechtenstein’s mountain peaks that rise above 2,000 meters. The bottle is simple, with a rustic black background and details in elegant copper foil that emphasize the country’s connection to nature and its down-to-earth character. Each of the exact 423 bottles per batch—inspired by Liechtenstein’s telephone country code (+423)—is numbered by hand.
The 32PEAKS bottle is more than just a container for our gin—it is a true work of art. TheLiechtensteinbrand logo proudly adorns the cap, a symbol of our connection to our homeland and our shared vision. The basic idea was to showcase Liechtenstein to the world—a country that offers so much diversity. In discussions with Liechtenstein Marketing, we realized that our philosophies align: to showcase the country and its uniqueness to the world and to share a piece of this diversity with people.

Partnerships and Innovation

Through numerous test distillations and blind tastings, an exceptional recipe was created that meets the highest standards. The goal was to create a gin that can be enjoyed neat and captures the essence of Liechtenstein.

In addition to its classic gin, 32PEAKS also released a limited-edition special edition: the Barrel Aged Gin. This gin was aged for 32 weeks in an old bourbon barrel at an altitude of 1,600 meters in Malbun. The edition was limited to 332 bottles and is now sold out.

Innovation in Space: Space Gin

Another extraordinary project emerged from a collaboration with Swiss space researcher Oliver Ullrich of the University of Zurich and the Space Center in Kiruna, Sweden. Juniper berries from Switzerland, blueberries from Sweden, and raspberries from Liechtenstein were sent into zero gravity. The ingredients that traveled in the rocket served as the basis for our unique Space Gin. This product embodies a spirit of discovery, freedom, and the courage to venture into the unknown.
