Little Big Beat Studios
Little Konzett – visionary, drummer, and sound craftsman.
October 21, 2025 - A World Full of Music and Magic
Imagine stepping into a studio where the walls are covered from floor to ceiling with vinyl records. Classical, jazz, rock, pop—it’s all here, handpicked, each record a piece of history. This is exactly what the heart of Little Big Beat Studios in Liechtenstein is like: a sanctuary where you can feel, smell, sense, see, and grasp the energy of music. This is where analog mastery, digital innovation, and pure passion come together—and this is exactly where Little Konzett, drummer, producer, visionary, and founder of this unique universe, works.
Early Years – How It All Began
Little Konzett is an Austrian drummer, producer, visionary, and CEO of Little Big Beat Studios in Liechtenstein and Austria—and the mastermind behind all the ideas and visions. “I grew up on a farm, which is why I’m called ‘Little’—my sister gave me that name. Maybe some of you still remember the TV series Bonanza—there was a character named Little Joe. I was the youngest on our ‘farm,’ so I was the Little.”
When I was thirteen, I recorded my first demo tape. Back then, people recorded onto cassettes—that’s how a band could show what they were capable of. If you wanted to capture something, you had to go to a recording studio; today, you can do it all with just a cell phone. I’m from a time when cassettes, CDs, tape machines, and vinyl cutting machines were really important. Early on, I experienced what it was like to work with a band, to rehearse every day, to build a band—and the recording studio? That was always this magical place. That’s where you recorded, heard yourself for the first time—and suddenly you realize: this is exactly where music happens. A moment you simply can’t forget, because it changes everything.
Musical Career – Mayfair and Early Successes
In 1989, I started playing the drums; I had my rehearsal space on the farm. Rock music was important to us—my sister always listened to rock, and my brother, who sadly passed away, was the bassist for the band Mayfair. I used to secretly play his drum set until he started playing bass and I took over the drums.
Then we formed the band Mayfair, which lasted over 20 years. Through the band, we first came into contact with record labels and were even named “Demo of the Month.” I had the opportunity to meet artists like Marque (Marcus Nigsch)—he celebrated his definitive breakthrough in 2000 with the hit single “One to Make Her Happy” from his third album “Freedomland” and was honored with the Amadeus Austrian Music Award. At 25, I got to experience what it really means to have a number-one hit: walking through Feldkirch with people shouting your name, suddenly flying off to a concert, being chauffeured in a Nightliner, relaxing backstage on white sofas, and having well-known fashion labels sponsor clothes for the entire band. At the same time, I saw how quickly the glamour fades—microphones are demanded back, and you realize: everything is fleeting. These experiences have taught me to consciously cherish every moment.
Philosophy – Heart Over Calculator
I’m a grateful farm boy. When you sow something, it grows—provided you take care of it. That’s why you should act with intention, but not overthink things. There’s a saying: “Everyone said, ‘That won’t work,’ then someone came along who didn’t know that and just did it.” I do a lot of things without asking for ten different opinions. I just give it a try—that’s how my whole Little Big Beat mindset works.
If you start with the calculator first, often nothing happens at all. Everything revolves around numbers, calculations, budgets—and projects get left on the back burner. But if you start with your heart and think: What would be cool? What would I like?—then magic happens. I walk into the studio and immediately see it all in front of me: tape machines, a live audience, drinks, food, photos with the artists. Musicians from all over the world travel to Liechtenstein to experience studio-live sessions right here. With high ceilings, two control rooms, and a spacious lounge, Studio Eschen is the top choice for musicians who want to record here. In the Magic Room, luxury, technology, and creativity come together: stereo and multichannel audio systems, a vinyl cutting machine, tape machines. I wanted to create an “island”—a place where artists feel at home because they know: the guy behind the glass studio window knows his craft.
The Studios – Analog Meets Digital
I work with everything from the oldest technology—Neumann editing machines from the 1950s and 1960s—to the most modern Dolby Atmos system. I blend the oldest technology with the newest, putting the craft at the forefront. You can’t digitally manipulate a recording on analog tape. You can edit, splice, and enhance the sound—but swap out vocals? That’s not possible. That’s the difference.
Of course, we also record digitally, but when it comes to live sessions where the band plays live to tape, there are only a few studios worldwide that do it this way. Analog recording, digital recording in parallel, a live audience, everything on vinyl—that’s our DNA.
Arthur Gassner and the Record Rooms
By the way: right where we’re standing, there are 48,000 records—on loan from Arthur Gassner of Mauren, whom I met five years ago. The room wasn’t finished yet; I wanted to build a bookshelf because of the acoustics. Arthur had the whole house full of records, and that’s how the idea came about: a unique room, 360 degrees of records from floor to ceiling—rock, pop, jazz. In the large studio room, there are 80,000 classical records.
Here’s the complete process: recording, mastering, vinyl cutting—all done analog. There are only a handful of places in the world that offer this. “Expertise from Liechtenstein” is a brand partner of Liechtenstein Marketing. Even though we offer products like vinyl records, master tapes, and cassettes, “Expertise from Liechtenstein” is a perfect fit.
All live sessions are filmed live, streamed live—on YouTube and our internal Little Big Beat TV—and at the end, we have the finished video. Not just audio, but video, photos, and even a journalist writes about it. Essentially, a 360-degree documentary.
Think of it this way: Normally, the recording process takes place behind closed doors. But I threw the doors wide open, and it turned into an event—a live studio session. The audience is sitting right here, witnessing history. In the end, a record is produced, and often the audience is featured on the cover—right in the middle, a hundred guests.
In the studio, I mix in real time on the mixing console. The signal goes to the master tape machine, which creates the “master.” This is then sent to the electroplating process and from there to a pressing plant. I’m still on the hunt for the perfect pressing plant…
(Little pauses thoughtfully, laughs softly)
I always ask the universe for everything. At some point, I wished for not just recording, mastering, mixing, and vinyl cutting—but also a pressing machine! We’re currently renovating our space: a reception area, a studio café, 240,000 record walls, a huge glass pane, and behind it... the pressing machine. And you can just have a coffee and watch as your record gets pressed. And all of this right here in Liechtenstein!
Jack White of Third Man Records. You can look through the glass window into his store. BUT—a recording studio, live sessions, analog recording, mixing, mastering, vinyl cutting, and a pressing plant—probably one of a kind. Once word gets out… I can’t wait to see what happens. Neither Abbey Road Studios nor Real World Studios has that.
Stars in the Studio
I’ve been a drummer since I was thirteen. I’m a fan of Simon Phillips and Billy Cobham—they’ve never stopped evolving. Today, it’s exactly these drummers who call: “Little, we’re coming to your studio!” Live sessions, recordings—to name just a few: Simon Phillips, Billy Cobham, Fred Wesley, James Brown, The New J.B.’s Band, Milow, Seven, Avishai Cohen—a real dream lineup! I just thought: If he ever comes—that would be insane! At first he didn’t even want to come—and now he’s totally happy. Why? Because this is the only live recording with an audience, video, analog, on vinyl—something he’s never experienced in his entire career. Both he and his record label are absolutely thrilled with the quality.
Die Fantastischen Vier – oh, we really had to think that one over… yet another completely different challenge. But for me, what always counts is the production that’s currently running – and that one was brilliant. Just fantastic.
Just imagine: An artist often spends ages in the studio—spanning weeks or months, spread across different studios. With me? They arrive half a day early to set up—a live session—and everything’s done a day and a half later. I describe myself as an audio photographer. Why? I work with sound the way photographers work with images: sounds, voices, environments—acoustic snapshots. That live feeling, the adrenaline, the essence of a live concert—but with the quality of a recording studio. We have the equipment for it.”
Experience and understand “
” Little describes the sessions as a gem, an insider’s tip that many people from Liechtenstein and the surrounding region have already discovered. “Our live sessions are always sold out; a hundred tickets are gone in minutes. For ‘Incognito,’ we tested a new system: Only registered guests received the message ‘You can order now’ at 11:11 a.m. on Sunday. Moments later, everything was sold out.”
The "Little Big Beat LLB" association supports this vision. What do we do? We promote talented musicians, bands, and audio, visual, and video content. We teach technical skills and offer training in both analog and digital formats—through workshops, internships, and courses. We’re reviving old traditions, just like back when I, as a thirteen-year-old drummer, experienced my first demo tape session. Cassettes are being produced again—and this association makes it all possible.
The “Demo Tape Session” series gives young artists the chance to participate in a major live studio session. We’ve just completed five sessions—an American artist won and got to experience what it means to be part of the action: music recorded analog on tape, video footage, photos, every nuance captured in the moment—an unforgettable experience.
