Let’s celebrate Liechtenstein together
The organizing committee for the 2025 National Holiday is pleased with the initial results of this year’s celebrations. Under bright sunshine and in a festive atmosphere, the official ceremony took place on the castle lawn. In the afternoon, the town center transformed into a colorful folk festival for young and old alike. As in previous years, the event concluded with a spectacular fireworks display.
August 15, 2025 – As in previous years, the 2025 National Holiday began with the official state ceremony on the castle lawn. Under a blue sky, approximately 3,500 guests gathered. Following the ceremonial procession, H.S. Crown Prince Alois von und zu Liechtenstein and State Parliament President Manfred Kaufmann delivered their speeches, before Apostolic Administrator Benno Elbs blessed the country and all eleven municipalities. The event was accompanied by the Vaduz Wind Orchestra and a group of children’s choirs from Vaduz and Triesen. Under the musical direction of Attila Buri, singer Nadia Maria Endrizzi performed the national anthem. The official portion was followed by a reception on the castle lawn. The occasion was adorned, among other things, with an 85-square-meter flag at the north rotunda of the castle. In addition, the rose garden was open for a tour. The alphorn group “Walserecho” performed there.
Over 30,000 visitors at the fair
Perfect weather and the start of the weekend: these ideal conditions created a lively and festive atmosphere at the folk festival. By shortly after 12:00 p.m., numerous visitors had already filled the town center and were enjoying refreshments at the various food stands. Starting at 2:00 p.m., many clubs and a stage program featuring local acts on five different stages provided a variety of entertainment. Mathias Ulrich, Managing Director of Liechtenstein Marketing, is pleased: “The Volksfest is always a special experience and a gathering place for all of Liechtenstein. We are delighted that numerous visitors from across the country came to Vaduz again this year.” The children’s and youth zones, the winegrowers’ village, and the newly designed electric stage were particularly well-received by young and old alike.” Overall, the organizers estimate that over 30,000 visitors attended the festival.
The host municipality of Vaduz
As the fourth host municipality with home-field advantage, Vaduz put on an entertaining program at Peter-Kaiser-Platz. Under the theme “A Year in Vaduz,” local clubs and organizations presented a diverse lineup featuring mini-versions of Summerträff, Vaduz on Ice, buskers, and the classic car meet. In addition, various Liechtenstein bands rocked the stage on Peter-Kaiser-Platz.
Traditional fireworks
Just as darkness fell, the first lights began to shine from the mountain peaks. Shortly after 9:00 p.m., the Liechtenstein Mountain Rescue Service illuminated the mountain panorama with bonfires, a torchlight procession, and the crown on Tuass. The final highlight of the day was the fireworks display, which lit up the sky 25 minutes above Vaduz.
