About 500 participants at the first Coop family hike in Malbun
The Coop Family Hike made its first stop in Liechtenstein, drawing around 500 participants from Liechtenstein and neighboring countries to Malbun. Despite the changeable weather, families enjoyed a varied adventure in the Liechtenstein mountains under the theme “The Helvetians and Their Magic Potion.”
July 20, 2026 – The Coop Family Hike is one of Switzerland’s most popular family events and took place in Malbun for the first time this year. With its alpine scenery and family-friendly infrastructure, the Liechtenstein mountain destination offers ideal conditions for hosting the event. “The feedback from families was very positive. They particularly appreciated the varied hike and the unique mountain scenery in Malbun,” says Christine Schraml, project manager for mountain regions at Liechtenstein Marketing.
In the Footsteps of Vrenix and Sepplix
At the heart of the experience was an interactive story centered on the Helvetian characters Vrenix and Sepplix. Families were introduced to the story even before the event. Once there, they worked together to solve puzzles and help the Helvetians on their mission. Along the approximately 5.5-kilometer route, participants encountered actors and actresses, interactive stations, and various puzzles. The hike lasted about two hours and combined outdoor activity with playful and creative elements.
Strong Collaboration with Local Partners
The close collaboration with numerous local partners from the tourism, hospitality, municipal, leisure, and alpine farming sectors was a key factor in the event’s success. This successful debut demonstrates Liechtenstein’s potential as a venue for family-friendly experiential events. “The combination of an interactive experience, an impressive mountain backdrop, and dedicated local partners makes Malbun an ideal venue. At the same time, we can give families a special glimpse into the diversity and appeal of Liechtenstein,” said Schraml.
